Teen Pregnancy Pact

I don't know what teenage girls were thinking at a local high school in Massachusetts, USA that they made a pact with each other that they should all be pregnant! Like why?! Don't they know that being a parent entails great responsibility?'

Is it because of Hollywood that makes being a teenage pregnant mother seem so glamorous? And to think that some of the babies of the teenage girls have the same father: a 24 year old homeless guy!

Parents should really have a talk with their teenage children and open them to the real world. Teenager should be thoughts about the future and to make them aware that the present and the now is not the only world that they will have.

There is the future. If all they seek is unconditional love and attention, sure a baby companion can give you that but how about the baby? Doesn't the baby need love and attention too? Do you think that the baby would have a great future if your a teenage jobless mom?

Raindrops

"RAINDROPS"
by
Edgar Vincent Bautista

Sitting here all alone
Right front the window
Listening to Raindrops
Fall down the sky
I've been thinking 'bout
The way things have been
They have been pulling me down

Moving on through my head
My mind is spinning
Outside my range of sanity

Refrain:
I don't know where I'm going
I don't know what to do
Things have been so confusing.

Chorus:
I wanna run away, fly away, far away
I wanna drift along this lonely sky
I wanna go the distance just far away
Thinking 'bout nothing (oh)
Doing nothing (oh)
Feeling nothing (oh)
I don't know what to do.

Walking down along this road
People staring at me
Why can't they just leave me alone

Moving on with my life
With no directions
My future is so unclear
But with you, I go on
I stand with courage
Ready to face the world

(Refrain)

(Chorus) x2

Finding Your Web Host

You know what? I have been searching all over for an excellent host that could provide me with the excellent service for a cheaper price. Sadly it is so hard to find a hosting company on the internet because the company may have great promotional talks but when it comes to the services they offer, they fall short big time!

That is why if you would want to get your own domain you should get a web hosting company you should know it's web hosting rating. Because you don't want to sign up and pay for a year of service and then regret it afterwards. What's worst is that there are web hosting companies that don't offer web hosting transfer services meaning you are left with a non-working website with flaws and as well as a big headache because you have absolutely no idea on how to transfer your website to another host.

Don't waste your time, money, and avoid headaches by checking out a web hosting rating. So if you are a blogger like me who wants a reliable hosting company that is also very affordable, you should check out Web Hosting Geek's Best Budget Hosting (2007).

This way you get the service that you want the way you want it to be.

For Your Printing Needs

Believe it or not I am into advertising. Just a few months ago I was busy making a website for my Nursing Garage Sale to inform everyone that I am selling my used nursing books and other stuff that I needed to dispose of because I was already on my way here to Canada. I knew that I could have gathered more potential buyers if only I had printed out banners or the like.

And a week after my Tita asked me for help regarding her Duplex Apartment that she wanted to rent out. Of course I was able to place some ads on the internet on some free sites but more people in our local would have known about that apartment for rent if I had printed fliers.

And a few weeks from now I was tasked again to create baby shower invitations because my blabber mouth dad insisted and told everyone that I was good at these stuff. But the truth is that I'm not. I have so many things in my mind that I don't have the time and energy to design baby shower invitations.

Good thing for me VistaPrint was there to save the day! With VistaPrint I could simply choose from several designs and personalize it with pictures or something. It's quick, easy, and hassle free. They are very professional and coordinates with you well to make sure that your needs are met.

Aside from invitations VistaPrints offer other printing services like rubber stamps, magnets, business cards, and other fully customized ad items like pens or what-so-ever. So for your printing needs, you have VistaPrint! How convenient is that?!

Canada After Image

Since I'm already in my new home, Canada, I just want to pay homage by making a post related to Canada.

So ladies and gentlemen let me introduce to you the flag of Canada also known as the Maple Leaf! I know that the flag is supposed to be red and white but no I did not make a mistake in posting this picture. I posted this picture because this image is an optical illusion. How? Well just follow these steps and you'll soon find out:
  • Stare at the dot in the center of the 11-point maple leaf for 40 seconds.
  • Now stare at an empty white space.
  • Tada! Amazed? Well you should be.
I'll be writing more about Canada here that's for sure. Until then let me share two more things before I go. Below are the flags of Canada and then the second image is the flag of Alberta, the province where we are staying at:

Credit Cards

At last! My family and I are already starting our new life here in Canada. Canada is everything that I had dreamed of. The lifestyle here is very comfortable and great. One doesn't have to worry much about being able to place food on the table because work here is pretty abundant. In proof of that I have been able to find three "Help Wanted Signs" almost everywhere and I am hoping to land a job in those stores because the pay is great too!

Of course, if one has a high standards of living it is also pretty easy to purchase anything that your heart desires (and partly what you can afford). But with credit cards that is not quite a problem. The use of credit cards here in Canada just like in any first world countries is pretty common and you can even pay for your parking with the use of your credit cards. The use of the wonderful plastic is very handy as you do not have to worry about being short on cash or losing your money because you lost your wallet.

The use of credit cards is already very common but not all users of this wonderful service is not quite informed of the perks and responsibilities that one has if one is a lucky owner of a plastic.

With Credit Cards Club one is provided with very valuable information about credit cards and reviews of different credit cards and banks which is very helpful indeed as this will give you the edge in choosing the bank that is truly worth your money.

Every bank has it's own unique bank rates and services that is why visiting Credit Cards Club for information is not only beneficial but it is a must!

My New Sony Ericsson W960i!

I am glad that I have reaped the fruits of my labor! After spending hours behind a hot computer screen (hehehe, Over...) I have finally bought my dream phone! Well for the moment at least, you know material things they come and go but whatever. ^_^

With my hard-earned money (which is of course subsidized by my generous mom hehehe) I am able to buy a Sony Ericsson W960i! What is it? Well maybe this video will give you an idea of it's features:

What I love about this phone and what prompted me to buy this is of the following reasons:
  • It's a music phone capable of playing almost every music file.
  • It has a 3.2 Megapixel camera
  • It is a touchscreen phone with handwriting recognition so I only write rather than type it in.
  • It has a WLAN or WiFi connectivity so I can blog for free in any hotspot.
  • It has an 8GB memory size.
  • Plus it's cheaper than the Nokia N95 8GB hehehe. Plus I prefer my phone than the Nokia N95.
The Nokia N95 and the Nokia N81 where some of my choices but my brother and mom decided to buy them so I didn't want to have the same phone as they have hehehe. Some may be wondering why we bought phones here when the common notion was that phones are better in Canada but guess again!

The Philippines happens to be the "Texting Capital" of Asia so it's natural that the phones here are more hi-tech or technologically advance and savvy. But only in terms of phones only hehehe.

I'm loving my phone right now so I highly recommend a Sony Ericsson W960i because so far it's the more affordable smart phone in the market with such great features.

David Archuleta! You're still my Idol!

I know that this topic is already old and that American Idol has ended and everything but even if David Archuleta did not get the crown as the next American Idol for 2008 he is still a star for me and I am still his fan no matter what!

I will be looking forward for his albums! I really loved his rendition of Chris Brown's "With You". I am not sad that he didn't win because I know that he had already proved that he is a star.

BF Homes Duplex Apartment For Rent

Just yesterday, my Tita, my brother and I went to her other house in BF Homes - Mariposa, Las Piñas to check it out since my Tita is planning to have it rented. We also went there to check up on her employee who was 9 months pregnant and supposedly over due but I'll reserve that for another post.

So I was tasked to take pictures and post ads on the internet for her Apartment. I went to check out the said apartment and I have to say that it is a great looking apartment and the price she set for it was very reasonable.

Here are the descriptions of the said apartment/duplex:
  • Location: BF Homes - Mariposa, Las Piñas, Manila
  • Type: 2-Storey Duplex Apartment
  • It has two bedrooms each with it's own bathroom and each with built-in cabinets
  • There is another bathroom at the ground floor (so that's a total of 3 bathrooms)
  • The apartment has perimeter walls and gates and the windows have bars
  • It has it's own parking space inside the lot.
  • It has a terrace with a great view.
  • It has a laundry area.

David Vetter - The Boy in the Bubble

This is David Vetter and he is well known as The Boy in the Bubble. You would see here in this picture his innocence and his youth... but all of that is slowly going to fade away...

You see David was born with severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) meaning he has no immune system. The common cold could kill him and therefore he must continue to live in a sterile germ-free environment, a bubble free of germs.

David was a happy and kind boy but as he matured and grew his emotions became more mature for a young boy. He wasn't a teenager yet but he was already becoming to have these dark moods and he wanted to be alone because he felt that he had no where else to go... he was going to die... there was no need to continue on living...

He was trapped in a cage as he saw his childhood friends and family members growing up and leaving him to explore the world and live their own lives. David was actually built a space suit so that he could explore the world around him. But he was always terrified to leave his bubble because if he was exposed even a tiny bit with a leak in his space suit he could die.

My heart was totally crushed as this young boy faced so much hardship but he remained strong and made it up to the age of 12. But sadly even though his doctors tried to save him, he still died after a bone marrow transplantation. The operation was a success but they weren't able to detect that the bone marrow harbored inactive viruses that caused a tumor which in turn caused massive hemorrhaging in David's intestines...

Seeing David suffer for so long emotionally for so long was heart wrenching... I am thankful that with our technology today 90% of newborns with SCID are successfully treated and doesn't have to live a life in isolation.

When David died, it was the first and last time that his mother was able to touch him...

Humorisk - Fool Me

I introduce to you my cousin's band, Humorisk! My cousin is the vocalist in this band and her name is Joanne. They are a band waiting to be discovered and become the next best thing! If you would listen to them their songs are original as they compose their own songs and my cousins singing can be compared to Evanescence and Within Temptations.

The song here which by the way is called Fool Me is a song originally composed and sung by my cousin's band Humorisk. As the title goes, this song is about being fooled and taken advantaged of by the one you love and trust the most that is why it's so painful.

Slave: The Cat Star Chronicles Review

Finally, after waiting for just a few days, I received my own copy of Cheryl Brook's very first supernatural-romantic novel, Slave: The Cat Star Chronicles.

I thank Danielle, Ms. Brook's lead publicist, for sending me a copy of Slave and I apologize that it took me a while before I could make my review. But here it goes.

I received my copy just before the day that I was scheduled to go to Manila and I have to say that it was great timing indeed because I now know that I have a great book to read whenever I'm bored or have nothing else to do.

Slave is nothing like the books that I have read before and this is very true indeed. Sure I am fond of reading supernatural stories but I have never encountered a work such as Slave that is very descriptive that I could actually see, feel, taste, smell, and hear what the protagonist of the novel, Jacinth, is experiencing!

The words used in this novel are so stimulating and so descriptive that it actually keeps you up all night and you are addicted to it and I find it hard to drop and leave the book because the urgency to know what happens next is so strong!

I also showed my friend the book and just by looking at the cover she knew immediately that the content is hot and spicy but as the saying goes, "Don't judge a book by it's cover!" She just read the first line and she was already hooked to it! No kidding! She has my book right now because she practically loved it and thanked me for lending it to her.

The novel is romantic in nature but I loved the way Ms. Brook's incorporated witty jokes into it. The plot is very easy to understand and follow and Ms. Brooks makes it a point to discuss how things in the story came to be.

I am looking forward to reading the next installment of the Cat Star Chronicles: Warrior which I heard is going to be released this October 2008.

If you want to know more about Ms. Cheryl Brooks please check out my entry about her: A few Minutes with Cheryl Brooks.

I'm Loving Natasha Bedingfield

The first time I have heard Natasha Bedingfield sing was on a Pantene commercial were Ruffa Gutierrez was saying she was beautiful and glamorous (which she really is) and the song was "Unwritten" by Natasha and the song was perfect for the commercial. It showed beauty and it really sets the mood.

But recently I have discovered another Natasha Bedingfield song that I have fallen in love with. Listen to this song and guess what song this is (oh you can click in the pause button at the upper left corner of my blog to hush little David Archuleta for a while hehehe):

If you haven't guessed what that song is then here's the lyrics:

I got a pocket, got a pocketful of sunshine.
I got a love, and I know that it's all mine.
Oh.

Do what you want, but you're never gonna break me.
Sticks and stones are never gonna shake me.
No.

Take me away: A secret place.
A sweet escape: Take me away.

Take me away to better days.
Take me away: A hiding place.

I got a pocket, got a pocketful of sunshine.
I got a love, and I know that it's all mine.
Oh.

Do what you want, but you're never gonna break me.
Sticks and stones are never gonna shake me.
No.

I got a pocket, got a pocketful of sunshine.
I got a love, and I know that it's all mine.
Oh.

Wish that you could, but you ain't gonna own me.
Do anything you can to control me.
Oh, no.

Take me away: A secret place.
A sweet escape: Take me away.

Take me away to better days.
Take me away: A hiding place.

There's a place that I go,
But nobody knows.
Where the rivers flow,
And I call it home.

And there's no more lies.
In the darkness, there's light.
And nobody cries.
There's only butterflies.

Take me away: A secret place.
A sweet escape: Take me away.

Take me away to better days.
Take me away: A hiding place.

Take me away: A secret place.
A sweet escape: Take me away.

Take me away to better days.
Take me away: A hiding place.

Take me away: A secret place.
To better days take me away.

Take me away to better days.
Take me away: A hiding place.

The sun is on my side.
Take me for a ride.
I smile up to the sky.
I know I'll be all right.

The sun is on my side.
Take me for a ride.
I smile up to the sky.
I know I'll be all right.

I love it! It really sets the mood, it's so empowering. I love the way she mixes soul, R&B, and Pop just like little David Archuleta. I can't wait for their duet!

My New Signature

Hi it's been a while since my last post. I have been a bit preoccupied with packing and all (packing daw, hehehe). Anyway as I have been saying before it is really great to visit other bloggers because:
  1. You learn some new and interesting things.
  2. You meet new friends.
  3. You get fresh and new ideas on how to improve your blog.
Well I had done all of the three listed above and the new improvement in my blog may have to be this signature at the end of my post. Yup! i have seen several bloggers having their signatures at the end making their posts more personal and more human so I thought I'd try it and I have to say that I love this addition to my blog's design. ^_^

If you're wondering, that's not really my handwriting (mine looks too bad to show hahaha). Why don't you guys try mylivesignature.com to get your own personalized signature at the end of each post. ^_^

A Few Minutes with Cheryl Brooks!

I was really surprised and excited when the lead publicist of Ms. Cheryl Brooks e-mailed me and told me that Ms. Brooks invited me for an interview with her. And what did I reply? Of course I'd say yes to such an awesome opportunity!

Ms. Brooks is a new paranormal romance author who by the way is also a night Critical Care Nurse. So she's a romance author by Day and then she's a Critical Care Nurse by night! How on earth could she balance her time, not to mention her energy?! She's really amazing. She has already written many unpublished novels but her debut novel that is very notable is SLAVE: The Cat Star Chronicles published by Sourcebooks Casablanca. And guess what she has five more upcoming novels in this series so we will definitely be seeing more of Ms. Cheryl Brooks.

I haven't read her novel yet (her publicist said she'll mail me a sample copy - yipee!) but I bet that it will really be interesting. They said that one should never judge a book by it's cover but I'm looking at the cover now and I think the cover speaks for itself how "Hot, Dangerous, and Sexy" this novel is.

Talk about being a superwoman. I really wonder how she could survive such a hectic schedule? Why not read this special interview I had with her to learn more of her:

*A Few Minutes with Cheryl Brooks*

~ Romance author by day, Critical Care Nurse by Night ~
www.cherylbrooksonline.com

Critical Care Nursing and Romance Writing seem like polar opposites. Was romance writing always a passion of yours?
I'm not sure that romance writing was always my passion, but I'm always fantasizing, and have been ever since I was a kid. Whenever I had to do something mundane or boring I'd come up with a storyline in my head and play it back just to have something better to think about. Eventually, I began writing them down.

Back in nursing school, what were some of your favorite romance novels to read? Did any of them inspire you to start writing your own?

I have always enjoyed the romantic suspense novels of Mary Stewart, as well as her Merlin trilogy. Her style has influenced me probably more than anyone's, but I'm also a big Georgette Heyer fan. I loved her humor most of all, but her heroes were very different from those I found in other books. Heyer's men were usually wealthy, but were also very human and sometimes a bit bumbling in their ways. They seemed so much more real to me than the stoic “Marlboro Man” type that I encountered in what a friend of mine used to call “Lust in the Dust” books. So often those men were too rough or arrogant for me—and had no sense of humor whatsoever! I like to laugh, and though I like a tough, sexy man as much as the next reader, many “heroes” I've read about are men I wouldn't even want to meet, let alone fall in love with, and my reaction to that was to make up my own heroes!

Do you think your writing has served as a way to “escape” the often hectic life of a nurse?
Any book can take you away from your current setting, but when you read, while you can use your own imagination up to a point, you are still at the mercy of the writer and you have to go where that person takes you. But writing a book can allow you to travel to any exotic locale you wish, do anything you've ever wanted to do, let you meet anyone you like, and fall in love with the most fabulous men you can dream up. Oh, of course! Reading.

Nurses can be put in extremely high stress situations and as a result, form close bonds and life-long friendships. Have any of your real-life relationships inspired those in your books?
The problem with branching out into a writing career has been that my best friends are all hospital workers, and though I'd love to be able to devote myself to writing full-time, leaving my nursing job would take me away from the best support network in the world! I work in a relatively small hospital, and I've met so many loving, caring people there! We're more like a family, and we know most of what is going on in each other's lives—and those who know that I write will often tell me things just so they might show up in a book someday! I've used many of my friends as characters in my novels, as well as their experiences, and they love it! Unfortunately, when it comes to their experiences with men, I've mostly used their bad ones! For example, a long-time friend and co-worker was lamenting one night that she'd give her right arm for a decent, honest, moral man, and I used that as a basis for the predicament that my heroine in the fourth book in The Cat Star Chronicles series finds herself in. Of course, the best part of being in a hospital setting is that, just when you think you've seen or heard it all, someone will prove you wrong!

You specifically write fantasy/science fiction romance. Has anything you’ve seen at work influenced some of the aliens, new species and environments you’ve created?
Actually, most of the sci-fi stuff comes out of my head, or from other books and films, but if you look closely, there's something “medical” in all of them. I've also written several novels (as yet unpublished) that aren't in the same genre as Slave, and many of them are about nurses. I have also written one novel for a respiratory therapist friend who loves cowboys. She wanted me to write a book about her, so I made her my heroine and gave her a whole bunk-house full of cowboys to choose from! I think that one is still her favorite.

Are there any similarities between critical care nursing and romance writing that you found surprising?
The stress! I thought I'd lower my stress level by being a writer instead of a nurse, but though the stress of being an author isn't life and death (and I have to remind myself of that on a regular basis!), I still carry it with me. A lot of what I do at the hospital I can leave behind when I clock out, but the writing thing follows me wherever I go, and I've probably lost more sleep because of my writing than I ever have as a nurse! However, when I've got an especially crazy patient driving me up the wall, or when the powers that be come up with some ridiculous new rule, writing for a living starts to look really, really good!
